Here is an unusual echinoderm specimen from the Mississippian of Illinois. It is a fine specimen of a Pentremites blastoid with many of the long, fine brachioles preserved, which is a very rare occurrence. The blastoid has good color and contrast and is nicely showcased on the squared plate of matrix that has another blastoid and bryozoans on the back side. This is a very good specimen of a blastoid with the delicate brachioles preserved.
