This is a very unusual plant fossil. It is a large fossilized root (Stigmaria) from Pennsylvania. This specimen was found years ago and was acquired in an old collection. The fossil has a nice main root preserved, with many of the small rootlets still intact. The detail of this specimen is extremely nice for this locality. This is a collectible tree root fossil from the Coal Fields of Pennsylvania.
