Here is a very large fossil leaf. This is Macginitiea wyomingensis, a Sycamore, from the Green River Formation of Colorado. All five lobes of the leaf are easily seen, and the slightly serrrated margins are exhibited in wonderful fashion. The venation of the leaf is quite distinct, and a LONG petiole is still tightly attached to the leaf. The brown leaf contrasts beautifully with the khaki-colored matrix. The large fossil (almost SEVEN inches long!) is well showcased on the large, repaired block of shale. This is a very displayable example of a very large Sycamore leaf from the Green River Formation.
