This is a nice pair of fossil brittlestars. It is a double Furcaster palaeoziocus from the famous Bundenbach slate quarries of Germany. Since the quarries have closed, the only way to acquire specimens is from old collections. This specimen IS from an old German collection. The large brittlestars are well preserved - one has all five LONG arms prominently displayed. Both 'stars have extremely fine detail and display in a very unique, aesthetic pose. The fossils have been replaced with iron pyrite or ''fool's gold'', and are well showcased on the large plate of roofing slate. This is a good example of two fossil brittlestars from one of the most famous fossil localities in the world.
This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
