This is a very nice fossil fish. It is a very fine Knightia from the Green River Formation of Wyoming. The large fossil fish (a full five inches long!) is extremely well preserved and exhibits wonderful detail. The eye socket is easily seen, the fins are very defined, and the tail is quite evident. This fish has nice, dark coloration and contrasts nicely with the cream-colored rock. This is a beautiful example of a fossil Knightia eocaena fish from the Eocene.
