This is a fine example of Mioplosus labracoides from the Eocene of Wyoming. This very large predatory fish exhibits very nice bone structure and scale pattern (rare). The orange-brown fossil contrasts beautifully with the cream-colored matrix. The distinct fish is beautifully showcased on the semi-rectangular plate of shale. This is a very large specimen (almost TEN inches!) of this uncommon predatory fish from the Green River Shale.
