Here is a unique cephalopod. This is Metalegoceras sp. from the Permian of Timor. Permian cephalopods are highly collectible - there are not many locations in the world where nice Permian cephalopods are found. This cephalopod has been removed from the surrounding rock so that it can be viewed from all angles. The fossil has been polished on both sides for a more spectacular display. The goniatitic sutures of the 3-dimensional cephalopod are nicely exhibited, and the red and white coloration of the fossil is quite striking. This is a very colorful specimen of an unusual Permian cephalopod from an exotic location.
