This is a very displayable chambered ammonite from the Jurassic of Russia. This is a wonderful example of a split-open Cosmoceras proniae. This type of ammonite has many ribs and a sharp keel. The large ammonite has been cut open to reveal the amazing inner chambers. The hollow chambers are lined with bright pyrite crystals - the golden coloration is just spectacular! The unique detail of the chambers is simply amazing. The fossil cephalopod is fossilized with two other iridescent Cosmoceras that are aesthetically perched on a pyritic base. This is a stunning display specimen of a beautiful chambered ammonite from Russia.
