Here is a very nice fossil leaf from an unusual location. This leaf is from the Eocene of Tennessee. We recently acquired this leaf from an old collection. Years ago, these leaves were found in the clay deposits of a brickyard in Tennessee. The broad, lance-shaped leaf exhibits great detail. The entire margins of the leaf are nicely displayed and the venation is clearly defined. Under magnification, the small, tertiary venation is quite evident. A short petiole is still attached to the leaf. The dark brown leaf contrasts wonderfully with the pinkish-tan matrix. This is a very pretty fossil leaf from an obscure location.
