Here is a very nice example of an unusual cystoid. This is Sinclairocystis praedecta from the Ordovician of Oklahoma. The cystoid has been removed from the surrounding matrix so that it can be easily viewed. This primitive echinoderm is very 3-dimensional and exhibits great detail. The fossil has extremely ornamented plates that are very nicely displayed. This is a very fine example of this bizarre Ordovician echinoderm, acquired from an old collection.
