This is a classic fossil fish. It is a complete Knightia eocaena from the Green River Formation of Wyoming. This fine fossil fish is extremely well preserved and exhibits great detail. The eye socket is easily seen, and the dorsal fin is beautifully displayed. The orange-brown fish contrasts wonderfully with the cream-colored matrix. The fossil herring is well showcased on the semi-rectangular plate of shale. This is a fine example of Knightia eocaena from the famous Fossil Lake Deposits of Wyoming.
