This is a fine plate of fossil starfish from the Ordovician of Canada. There are two examples of Stenaster obtusus on the slab. Stenaster starfish are commonly called ''button stars''. The starfish exhibits very nice detail - the plate structure is wonderfully defined. These fossil echinoderms have very good color and contrast and are well presented on the large plate of limestone that also contains bryozoans and a large brachiopod. This is a very good example of true fossil starfish from the Ordovician Period.
