This is a very unusual fossil leaf. It is a fabulous Corylus insignus (Hazelnut) Leaf from a new find in the Paleocene of Montana. This specimen has great shape - and the serrations, reticulation, and venation are clearly seen. The fabulous color makes for a striking display. The beautiful leaf is well showcased on a nice plate of shale. And this is a split pair fossil - both halves are included together. This is a very fine example of a split pair fossil Hazelnut leaf from an unusual location in Montana.
