This is a large Paleocene leaf. It is a wonderful Carya antiquorum (Hickory) Leaf from a new find in the Fort Union Formation of Montana. This specimen is quite large - over SIX inches long. The leaf has great detail preserved - the reticulation and venation are clearly seen. The dark color makes for a striking display. The beautiful leaf is well showcased on the large plate of shale. This is a large fossil Hickory leaf from an unusual location in Montana.
