Here is a very pretty specimen of a fossil coral. This is Manicina areolata from the Pliocene of Florida. This fossil coral is very 3-dimensionally preserved and exhibits excellent detail. This cup-type coral displays the septa beautifully. The reverse side of the coral tapers rapidly to the point of attachment. This is an excellent specimen of a Cenezoic coral.
