Here is a very unusual plate of leaves from the Eocene of Colorado. There are two leaves on this slab of Green River Shale. Both leaves are of the type, Populus cinnamomoides. These leaves have very nice detail and shape preserved. Both of these plant fossils have very nice color and contrast wonderfully with the light-colored matrix. The fossils are well showcased on the rectangular plate of shale. This is an uncommon multiple plate of Populus cinnamomoides leaves from the Green River Shale.
