This is a superb fossil leaf. It is an excellent Macginitiea wyomingensis, a Sycamore leaf, from the Eocene of Colorado. This large leaf has all five lobes wonderfully intact, except the tip of one lobe has been distinctly bug-eaten! The slightly-serrated margins are beautifully displayed, and the venation is clearly defined. A LONG, complete petiole is still tightly attached to the base of the leaf. The leaf has wonderful dark brown color and incredible natural contrast. The amazing fossil leaf is beautifully showcased on the semi-squared plate of shale. And the leaf is almost 5 inches tall! This is an outstanding specimen of a complete Sycamore leaf from Colorado.
