This is a very fine specimen of Cardiospermum coloradensis, Balloon Vine leaves, from the Green River Formation of Utah. Living members of Cardiospermum are herbaceous, or woody vines. The fossil species appear to represent shrubs rather than vines. This branch is quite nice for the type and exhibits very good detail. The large-lobed leaves have great color and contrast and are well showcased on the natural-edged plate of shale. This is a very distinct multiple specimen of this strange-looking leaf from the Eocene.
