Here is a beautiful display plate of fossil fish from the Eocene of Wyoming. There are two complete fish (Diplomystus and smaller Knightia) aesthetically positioned on the sculpted plate of shale. The fossils exhibit very fine detail. The bone structure of the fish is wonderfully displayed, and the eye sockets are easily seen. The brown fossil fish contrast very nicely with the cream-colored matrix. This is an excellent display plate of fossil herring from the Green River Formation. This plate would look great in anyone's home or office.
