This is a very distinct example of juvenile Mioplosus labracoides from the Eocene of Wyoming. This uncommon fish exhibits fine bone structure - the backbone and fins are very easily seen. The brown fossil contrasts nicely with the cream-colored matrix. The complete fish is wonderfully showcased on the rectangular plate of shale. This is a very nice juvenile specimen of this predatory fish from the Green River Shale.
