This is a fine example of Mioplosus labracoides from the Eocene of Wyoming. This very large fish exhibits nice bone structure, and the orange-brown fossil contrasts nicely with the cream-colored matrix. The distinct fish is beautifully showcased on the semi-oval plate of shale. And there are even some teeth preserved in the mouth! This is a very large specimen (over ELEVEN inches!) of this uncommon predatory fish from the Green River Shale.
