This is an excellent fossil fish from the Oligocene of France. This Dapalis macrurus fish is complete and wonderfully articulated. The detail of this classic fish is just exquisite! The bone structure is clearly defined, and the fins are wonderfully displayed. The dark brown color of the fish contrasts beautifully with the light-colored matrix. The fossil is nicely showcased on the large plate of limestone. This is a fabulous specimen of this unusual Oligocene fish from France.
