This is a beautiful brittlestar fossil. It is a large Furcaster palaeoziocus from the famous Bundenbach slate quarries. Since the quarries have closed, the only way to acquire specimens is from old collections - this specimen IS from an old German collection. The huge (4.2 inches!) brittlestar is complete with all five arms intact. The echinoderm is extremely detailed and very well-preserved on a large slate roofing shingle. The 'star has extremely fine detail and displays in a very unique, aesthetic pose. The beautiful golden coloration is fully natural and absolutely striking. This is a very distinct brittlestar fossil from the classic Bundenbach locality.
