This is an unusual association of fossils. It is an Urasterella asperula and Asteropyge cephalon from the Devonian of Germany. Since the quarries in this area have closed, the only way to obtain specimens from this site is through the dispersal of old collections - this is one of those specimens. The starfish has all five arms intact and exhibits great detail. The individual plates of the starfish are clearly defined. The Asteropyge cephalon is unusual in that it is a much rarer type of trilobite than Chotecops from Bundenbach. The fossils have been replaced by iron pyrite, or ''fool's gold''. The the fossils are nicely showcased on the large (5.0" X 6.6") plate of matrix. There is also a small crinoid that connects the trilobite and the starfish! This is a very nice starfish and trilobite double from one of the most famous fossil sites in the world.

This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
