This is an excellent specimen of Orophocrinus stelliformis from the Mississippian of Missouri. This beautiful, star-shaped blastoid is highly prized by the local collectors. It is a lucky day for the collector when one of these blastoids is unearthed. This blastoid is extremely 3-dimensional and exhibits great detail. The small spiracular slits are even evident in this specimen. The echinoderm has great off-white color that contrasts beautifully with the orange-brown matrix. The fossil is well centered on the limestone block that also contains a myriad of crinoid parts. This is a wonderful specimen of this very unusual blastoid.
