Here is a beautiful fossil leaf. This unidentified leaf is from the Eocene of Utah. This ovate leaf has a somewhat cuneate base and sharply serrated margins. The venation of the leaf is wonderfully displayed - even the tertiary venation is easily seen. And the color of the leaf is outstanding. The orangish-brown leaf contrasts beautifully with the khaki-colored matrix. It is extremely well centered on the semi-squared plate of shale. This is a gorgeous example of this unusual leaf from the Green River Shale.
