This is an excellent fossil fish. It is a Priscacara liops from the Eocene of Wyoming. This ''sunfish-type'' is one of the most sought-after fish from the Green River Formation. This specimen is from the ''18 inch layer'' and is beautifully preserved. The bone structure is well defined, and the fins are wonderfully displayed. Even the sharp spines of the dorsal fin are all intact. The eye socket is easily seen and the open mouth of the fish makes for a striking display. The fossil has outstanding color and contrast and is well presented on the rectangular plate of shale that contains an excellent coprolite (poop). This is a very aesthetic specimen of Priscacara liops from the Green River Formation.
