This is one of the most aesthetic multiple specimens of Cryptoblastus melo that we have ever seen. This fossil is from the Mississippian of Missouri. There are 3 large Cryptoblastus blastoids on the plate. This is not an uncommon blastoid, but a plate of this quality is quite unusual. The melon-shaped blastoids are very inflated and exhibit fine detail. The plate structure is well defined and the thin ambulacra are easily seen. The white fossils contrast nicely with the brownish-orange matrix. The blastoids are nicely positioned on the natural plate of limestone. This is a very displayable plate of Cryptoblastus melo from the famous Burlington Formation.
