Specimen URIP1

This is a very beautiful eurypterid fossil. It is a textbook Eurypterus remipes from the Silurian of New York. Eurypterus remipes is the State Fossil of New York, and is one of the most unusual arthropods in the fossil record. Eurypterids were thought to be one of the first aquatic animals to explore onto land. This amazing specimen is almost 100% complete with both paddles and almost all of the many ''walking arms'' preserved. The extinct arthropod is wonderfully centered on the unbroken, rectangular plate of waterlime. This is a very collectible, top quality eurypterid fossil that simply displays beautifully.
