Specimen SSA657

This is a spectacular display specimen of Populus wilmattae, a Poplar Leaf, from the Eocene of Utah. The leaf is just MASSIVE, measuring 11 inches along the curve - this is the largest example of this type we have ever seen! The venation of the leaf is very easily seen, and the LONG, complete petiole is quite evident and unmistakable  - even the crenate margins are well displayed! The specimen has great natural color and contrast. This is simply a HUGE, textbook specimen of Populus from the Green River Formation.
