This is an extremely rare plate of Iowa crinoids. There are at least TEN Cribanocrinus sp. crinoids preserved on this amazing slab. This HUGE specimen was recently acquired from a major crinoid collection. The somewhat 3-dimensional crinoids on this plate are nicely articulated for this type and have excellent detail - even the unique plate structure is beautifully defined. The delicate, splayed arms showcase the tiny pinnules in ''feathery'' fashion. Many of the sea lilies still have LONG sections of their stems preserved. The light-colored crinoids contrast strikingly with the dark-colored matrix. The distinct sea lilies are all wonderfully showcased on the large, semi-rectangular plate of limestone. This is a beautiful display plate of MANY rare Cribanocrinus from Southeastern Iowa.
