Here is a very striking example of fossil gastropods. This is Turritella sp. from the Miocene of France. There are two wonderful specimens of this high-spired gastropod perched on the block of matrix. The fossils are extremely 3-dimensional and exhibit excellent detail. The fine ornamentation of the gastropods is clearly defined. The off-white color of the fossils contrasts nicely with the sand-colored matrix. The block of matrix has a flat base and the matrix has been removed from the upper portions of the fossil snails so that they are beautifully displayed from all angles. This is a very aesthetic gastropod specimen from France.
