Beautiful, Rare Triassic Ammonite Plate from Greece

Here is a striking ammonite plate from an extremely unusual location. This is NATURAL multiple plate of Gymnites incultus and other ammonites from the Triassic of Greece. Triassic cephalopods are not common in the fossil record - there are only a few places in the world where they are found. There are a FULL DOZEN fossil cephalopods on this plate, front and back - 11 ammonites and one straight cephalopod! Gymnites has a very smooth shell and a narrow keel, the other ammonites are round like a ball and are almost as wide as they are tall. The extinct cephalopods are quite 3-dimensional and exhibit fine detail - the coiling patterns of the mollusks are easily seen. The naturally black ammonites display beautifully on the reddish limestone block in which it was found - there are even ammonites on the back side of the plate! The last photo shows the fossil sitting on a shelf, perfect for display! This is a very collectible and displayable NATURAL multiple ammonite plate from the Triassic of Greece.
