Very Detailed Coltraneia with Huge Compound Eyes

Name: Coltraneia oufatenensis
Age:  Devonian
Formation:  AM Limestone
Location:  Morocco
Size: Trilobite is 2.5 inches long
Price: SOLD

Specimen SSA604

This is a beautifully-prepared trilobite. It is a specatular Coltraneia oufatenensis from the Devonian of Morocco. This specimen was meticulously prepared under a microscope in the EXTINCTIONS Prep Lab. This is a very difficult trilobite to obtain in good condition - and this one is fabulous! One glance will tell you what this trilobite is famous for - the huge compound eyes that are elevated above the glabella! This trilobite must have been able to see almost 360 degrees! Both of the large compound eyes display the individual lenses in extremely fine fashion. The exoskeleton is beautifully preserved, and the deep chocolate brown color is totally natural and quite striking. The impressive trilobite is also very 3-D and extremely inflated, and the entire head has been prepared free-standing! This is a spectacular, professionally-prepared example of one of the most sought-after trilobites from Morocco.
