This is an extraordinary insect from the Upper Jurassic of China. Although we are not sure of the identification of this specimen, this insect looks like a Moth (Lepidoptera). The head, segmented body, and large wings of the insect are beautifully displayed. The insect has great color and contrast and is well centered on the natural plate of shale. This is one of the more detailed insects we have seen from this site. This is a very collectible specimen of this unusual insect from the time of the dinosaurs.
