This is a juvenile example of a classic fossil fish. It is a baby Phareodus testis, a predatory fish from the Green River Formation. This specimen has very nice color and fine detail - the bone structure is easily seen. The large teeth are intact and well showcased, which is quite unusual for such a small fish. The fossil is well centered on the large matrix plate. This is an excellent example of this predatory fish from the Eocene.
