This is an ornate fossil crinoid. It is a cool Dorycrinus unicornis from the Lower Burlington Formation of Missouri. This specimen has great detail. The long spine that gives this crinoid its name is intact and still attached. There is also a melon-shaped Cryptoblastus blastoid on the plate. The fossils contrast beautifully with the orange matrix plate. This is a wonderful example of this spiny Mississippian crinoid.
