This is a beautiful slab of fossil corals (Cladopora bifurca) from Alpena, Michigan. This specimen was cut and polished on one side for optimal display. The individual corals of this colony are very detailed. The porous nature of the corals is very easily seen. The beautiful brown coloration is fully natural and quite striking. This is a textbook example of a cross-section of a colony of corals that is not only educational, but also quite aesthetic.
