This is a beautiful specimen of Priscacara serrata from the Eocene of Wyoming. This is one of the most recognizable fossil fish in the world. The large fossil fish has natural orange-brown color that contrasts beautifully with the cream-colored matrix. The fish has great bone structure and extremely fine fin detail - even the tail is fully defined. And the open mouth and extended dorsal fin make for an impressive display. The fish is well showcased on the nice plate of matrix. This is a wonderful display example of this classic fossil fish from the Green River Formation.
