HUGE Platybelodon Elephant Molar Still in Jaw!

This is an extremely large fossil tooth. It is a massive Platybelodon Molar from the Miocene of China. This type of animal is a Gomphothere Elephant that just happened to have two large shovel tusks on the front of its lower jaw! This HUGE tooth is complete with all of the MANY cusps intact. Some of the cusps are worn from use - some are not, which is somewhat unusual. The massive enamel crown has great natural color preserved, with many different shades and colors represented. The detail of the tooth is also exceptional and easily seen. And if all that is not collectible enough, this tooth is still embedded in its large section of solid jawbone! This is simply a monster tooth from the very unique Platybelodon Elephant with a bizarre shovel jaw.



NOTE: China has now banned the export of fossils. This fossil was acquired long before the ban was put into effect.
