Here is a very interesting echinoderm specimen from the Burlington Formation of Missouri. This is a large specimen of Physetocrinus ventricosus. This crinoid has large, stellate plates on the cup and very small, smoother plates on the tegmen. The anal opening of the crinoid is quite evident. The arm attachment areas around the periphery are easily seen. The white color of the fossil contrasts nicely with the orangish-brown matrix. And this specimen is fully natural - the crinoid has NOT been composited! This is a very aesthetic specimen of a distinct echinoderm from the Burlington Formation.

This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
