Here is an extremely rare fossil fish from the Parachute Creek Member of the Green River Formation. This fish was discovered at the famous fossil plant locality near Bonanza, Utah. Very few fish have ever been found at this site. The fish is a hatchling, therefore, we are unsure of the exact identification. The backbone of the fish is beautifully articulated, and even the large eye of the fish can be seen. The fossil has nice color and contrast and is well presented on the natural plate of shale that also contains a Mimosites leaf. This is a fine specimen of this highly unusual fish from the Eocene.
