Here is a rare fossil flower. It is a Fossil Astronium Flower from the Green River Formation. Due to their delicate nature, flowers are very rare in the fossil record. This is a great specimen of an Eocene flower. This flower is wonderfully preserved in semi-side view. The shape of the flower is clearly defined, and the drooping petals are easily seen. The fossil has great color and contrast and is nicely presented on the natural plate of shale. This is a very exciting specimen of a rare fossil flower from the Green River Formation.
