This is a very rare fossil fish. It is a large Semionotus tenuiceps from Massachusetts. Jurassic fossil fish are extremely rare in the US. This specimen is quite large and has very fine detail preserved. The scales are articulated (rare), the eye socket is easily seen, and the fins are also intact (tail is enhanced). This is a very nice example of this extinct, classic fossil fish from Massachusetts.
