This is a very rare fossil fish. It is a complete Semionotus tenuiceps from Massachusetts. Triassic fossil fish are extremely rare in the US. This specimen is quite large and has very fine detail preserved. The scales are articulated (rare), the eye socket is easily seen, and the fins and tail are also intact. This is one of the best specimens of this type we have had. This is a top quality example of this very unusual fossil fish from Massachusetts.
