Top Quality Eurypterid with Fabulous Ventral Detail

This is a fabulous arthropod fossil. It is a complete Eurypterus remipes from the Silurian of New York. Eurypterus remipes is the State Fossil of New York, and is one of the most unusual arthropods in the fossil record. Eurypterids were thought to be one of the first aquatic animals to explore onto land! This phenominal specimen is beautifully preserved and complete with both paddles and almost all of the EIGHT ''walking arm'' appendages intact, which is extremely rare. The chelicerae ("teeth") are also easily seen, which is even rarer! The creature is fossilized a very aestetic pose, almost perfectly centered on the semi-rectangular block of waterlime. And, incredibly, there is no repair or restoration to this amazing specimen! This is a pristine, museum quality eurypterid fossil that simply displays beautifully.
