Specimen SS1018

This is simply an incredible multiple trilobite plate. It is a slab covered with the HUGE type of Onnia sp. trilobites from the Ordovician of Morocco. This specimen was microscopically prepared in the EXTINCTIONS Prep Lab here in Colorado. There are 20 HUGE examples of this Trinucleid trilobite on the slab - all are complete or essentially complete. All of the trilobites are wonderfully articulated and exhibit excellent detail. The pitted cephalic borders are quite distinct, and the thin genal spines are easily seen. The dark brown color of the trilobites contrasts superbly with the light-colored matrix. The bugs are beautifully showcased on the huge, natural, but artistically sculpted block of limestone. And best of all, this slab is not composited - all of the trilobites are natural to the plate. This is an extremely prolific ''death assemblage'' of the HUGE type of Onnias from Morocco - a museum-quality example of trilobite mass mortality. (Note US penny in last photo for scale.)
