This is simply a beautiful fossil shark tooth. It is a very large Carcharocles megalodon (Extinct Giant White Shark) tooth from the Atacama Desert of Chile. This specimen is large and impressive - well over five inches long! The tooth is wonderfully preserved and displays beautifully. The exquisite detail and striking natural color are extremely impressive. The enamel is practically flawless, and the serrations are intact and razor sharp. There is a chunk of matrix still attached to the root of the back side of the tooth, which gives this specimen character. Not only is this a large, colorful fossil shark tooth, there is no restoration to the fossil whatsoever. This is a fabulous Chilean Meg tooth that displays beautifully on both sides.
