EIGHT INCH Extremely Rare Isotelus gigas from Ohio

Name: Isotelus gigas
Age:  Upper Ordovician
Formation:  Arnheim Formation
Location:  Near Cincinnati, Ohio
Size: Trilobite is 7.8 inches long
Price: SOLD

Specimen SSS960

This is a fabulous example of a very rare Ohio trilobite. It is a very large Isotelus gigas from Ohio. This type of trilobite is extremely rare in the Cincinnatian - of the three species of Isotelus found there, this is the rarest type. This specimen is complete, outstretched, and beautifully preserved. The thick shell exoskeleton is fully intact and has great detail - the very short, needle-thin genal spines are present. The chocolate-brown coloration of the bug is striking and fully natural. The massive trilobite (almost EIGHT inches long!) contrasts beautifully with the large, natural-edged matrix block. This is a very large, top quality Isotelus gigas that could easily be the centerpiece of any Ohio trilobite collection.
