Specimen SSW304

This is an extremely rare fossil. It is a complete True Scorpion from the famous Santana Formation of Brazil. This amazing creature lived during the Cretaceous Period, at the same time as the Dinosaurs! This fossil scorpion is extremely detailed - the claws and legs are easily seen, and the segmented tail and stinger barb is wonderfully intact! The reticulation of the carapace is also extremely well preserved on this amazing specimen. It is incredibly rare in the fossil record to find a scorpion this complete, let alone this well preserved! This is a super collectible, museum quality example of one of the most sought-after animals from the Santana Formation.
